The Garage: Greatest Uses And Pluses For Possessing One

When one hears the word “garage” immediately you think of a place in which to house your automobile. And, in fact, that is the intended purpose. Over the years, many people have put them to a variety of uses and cannot imagine ever living in a place that does not have access to one.

The garage has made a wonderful work area where art projects and furniture refinishing could be completed. During wet weather or super cold temperatures, the materials or workman could work inside without discomfort or damage to the project.

It is great to have an extra place where the children can practice with a band or play numerous games of ping-pong or work on and repair bicycles and go-carts. When it’s time to have get-togethers for the pre-teen/teen group, this area can provide a place where the youngsters can be close by and yet feel like they have their own space.

With the right setup, (the best setup being the detached type for this purpose) a garage can also play double duty by becoming a studio apartment, with the addition of a few necessary fixtures such as shower, toilet and apartment size appliances. Many a mother-in-law or father in-law has graced the steps of in-law quarters that previously housed the family automobile. Not to mention the adult son or daughter that has come back home to roost.

Sometimes you can see a garage that appears to be doing nothing but provide storage space. There are boxes and boxes of items from wall to wall, front to back. These are items that should have been tossed out some time ago, but due to sentimental value, the folks just can’t seem to part with them. If they ever decide to get rid of that stuff, undoubtedly would be the yard sale junkie’s pleasure.

The nice part about a garage is that it can become anything its owner needs it to be. Because it provides such potential, its many uses can be as creative as the individual’s imagination and can be accomplished quickly with little expense, depending on the double duty it will be called upon to perform. It has definitely become an important part of today’s housing concept.

Garages can be as modest as a one (small) car to three or five car deluxe. With the one car type, there’s not a lot one can do with it, and I’ve often wondered when I see one, how in the world the builder expected a vehicle to be housed in it. The deluxe on the other hand, makes you envy all that available space seemingly wasted “just” to house the car.

What was once a lowly game that people thought of only as a leisure activity in the basement is now one of the major events in the world of sports. Thanks to the hordes of aficionados for table tennis, the indoor sport has become more popular than ever attracting millions of players and spectators. Table tennis combines the excitement of racquet sports and the flair or finesse of dance and gymnastics. And this is something that can be magnificently captured on DVDs.
