The olympics have been a showdase for a country since the 1930’s when Germany used them to show off his “Nazi supermen.” Middle East fighters used the Olympics to sow their revenge on Israel for the occupation of Palistine. African Americans used the Olympics to show their Black Power. Russia and the United States used them during the Cold War to snub each other.
Today many want the games to be peaceful and just aobut games and not politics – but you can’t pretend that history never happened.
China was given the priviledge of the Olympics on the premise that it would improve its human rights record – but it hasn’t. In Tibet we have seen that China still relies on brute and cruel force to deal with dissent. China wants to be recognized by the world as a proud leader. the world is ready to give that recognition when CHina shows that it has a heart as well as muscle and money. Unitl then the world might smile at China, but we will not accept or trust CHina.
Those living in Tibet are a bunch of terrorists and should be nuked. Then Tibet would be free. And, become part of China again not a rogue terrorist US hating group of Al-Queda loving thugs. So China should slaughter them all with the help of the US.
